Ever since I got my ninja creami, I have been obsessed with trying out different protein ice cream recipes. I feel that this Butterfinger protein ice cream is the best flavour yet.

If you love ice cream but also care about hitting your protein goals, this one is for you. This entire pint delivers an impressive 40 grams of protein while keeping calories low.
It is creamy, sweet, slightly nutty, and packed with that classic buttery candy flavor we all know and love.

Why Make this Butterfinger protein ice cream
I have tested a lot of protein ice cream recipes over the years. Some are great. Some are… not so great.
I do have other banging protein recipes such as the trending Biscoff Protein Ice Cream , Oreo Cookies and Cream Ice Cream and the Strawberry Cheesecake Ice cream.
The first time I made this Butterfinger protein ice cream, I honestly could not believe how good it turned out. The texture was thick and scoopable, and the flavor reminded me of melted Butterfinger candy blended into ice cream.

I like to keep a few pints of this in the freezer almost every week. It is the perfect late night treat when I want something sweet but still want to stay on track.

225 g unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 g English toffee extract
15 g vanilla whey/casein blend protein powder
15 g PB Party Protein Cookie Butter Powder
15 g powdered peanut butter
8 g sugar free fat free butterscotch pudding mix
5 g zero calorie sweetener of choice
Pinch of sea salt
Mix-ins:
½ Butterfinger candy bar
How to Make Butterfinger Protein Ice Cream
Making this Butterfinger protein ice cream is surprisingly simple. Once you make it a couple of times, it becomes second nature.
Start by adding the Fairlife milk, almond milk, protein powder, powdered peanut butter, cookie butter powder, pudding mix, sweetener, sea salt, and English toffee extract into your Ninja Creami pint container.

Use a small hand blender or milk frother to mix everything together until the base is completely smooth. You want the protein powder fully dissolved so the final texture turns out creamy instead of grainy.
Once mixed, place the pint in the freezer and allow it to freeze completely. I usually freeze mine overnight so it is ready to spin the next day.
When the mixture is fully frozen, let the pint sit on the counter for about 10 minutes or run the outside under warm water for a minute. This helps the Creami process the ice cream smoothly.
Insert the pint into the Ninja Creami and run the Ice Cream function if you plan to add mix-ins. If you want to skip mix-ins, the Lite Ice Cream setting works perfectly.

After the first spin, create a small hole in the center of the ice cream and add the chopped Butterfinger pieces. Run the Mix-In function so the candy gets evenly distributed.
Grab a spoon and enjoy your creamy Butterfinger protein ice cream.

How Long Does It Take + Serving Ideas
This recipe takes only about 5 minutes of prep time, but the ice cream base does need to freeze beforehand. I usually prep it the night before so it is ready to spin the next day.
Once frozen, the spinning process only takes a couple of minutes.
You can enjoy this Butterfinger protein ice cream straight from the pint, which is honestly my favorite way. If you want to dress it up a little, try topping it with crushed Butterfinger pieces, a drizzle of peanut butter, or a sprinkle of chocolate chips.
It also makes a fun high protein dessert after dinner or a sweet post workout treat.
Why You Will Love This Recipe
- High protein dessert. One pint delivers around 40 grams of protein, making it both satisfying and macro friendly.
- Low calorie indulgence. The base pint comes in around 306 calories before mix-ins, which is incredible for such a rich dessert.
- Creamy texture. The combination of Fairlife milk and pudding mix helps create a smooth, scoopable ice cream texture.
- Easy to make. You simply blend the ingredients, freeze the pint, and spin it in the Ninja Creami.
- Great for meal prep. You can freeze multiple pints at once so dessert is always ready.
- Tastes like real dessert. The toffee extract and Butterfinger mix-ins make it taste like an actual candy ice cream.
Tips, Variations, and Substitutions
A few small tips can make your Butterfinger protein ice cream even better.
First, if you want that authentic Butterfinger flavor, the English toffee extract really helps. It mimics that buttery candy taste beautifully. If you do not have it, the ice cream will still be good, but the flavor will be slightly different.
For the protein powder, I recommend using a whey and casein blend. These blends usually create a creamier texture than whey alone.
If your ice cream comes out crumbly after the first spin, simply run the Re-spin function once or twice. This is very normal with protein ice cream.
Here are a few fun variations you can try:
Chocolate Butterfinger version – Add a teaspoon of cocoa powder to the base for a chocolatey twist.
Peanut Butter overload – Drizzle melted peanut butter on top before serving.
Cookie crunch version – Swap the Butterfinger mix-in for crushed chocolate protein cookies.
These little tweaks make it easy to customize the recipe depending on what you are craving.

Storage & Meal Prep
Protein ice cream stores well in the freezer for several days.
If the ice cream becomes very hard after freezing, simply let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before spinning again in the Ninja Creami.
You can also prep multiple pints at once so you always have high protein dessert ready for the week.
